Air purification for various process steps in additive manufacturing at formnext 2025
ULT will present comprehensive and new solutions for process air filtration in additive manufacturing at the upcoming formnext trade show in Frankfurt/M., Germany.
At the heart of the solution portfolio is the world's unique filter barrel technology, which was developed for process gas filtration in metal 3D printing (Laser Powder Bed Fusion – LPBF). The ULT AMF device series covers an air volume range from 100 m³/h to >1,000 m³/h. The scalable systems include filter barrels in various sizes and guarantee a very long filter service life of up to 10,000 laser hours thanks to the nano-coated permanent filters used.
Further advantages of the device series include contamination-free removal of dust residues and filter changes, meaning employees never come into contact with particles or condensate.
A special concept allows the tested, gas-tight filter drums to be changed in just a few minutes. Very low operating costs, simple handling, and ease of service are further advantages of the gas purification systems. Thanks to the use of a police filter, they offer a high level of safety, as well as optional sensors and modules such as pre-separators for coarse particles.
In addition to sustainable filtration solutions for the LPBF process, ULT will be presenting extraction and filtration systems for process preparation and powder handling, as well as for post-processing.
ULT has also been actively involved in the research and development of metal- and plastic-based additive manufacturing for more than 20 years. The company is part of various professional networks and research partners for colleges, universities, and corporate clusters.
In addition to air pollution control issues, which are important for all additive manufacturing processes in terms of occupational safety, process reliability, and product quality, users can significantly reduce operating and maintenance costs through clever system designs. ULT experts explain to interested visitors the potential savings for each specific application.
